How About Another Technology Blog Channel?

By Renn Vara

Sure. Let’s create another place for people who have too much time on their hands to waste it listening to other people who have too much time on their hands. Sorry for being the cynic. But these people bore me to death with all their babble. Shut up please. Thank you.

There are a number of blogs, podcasts, vidcasts, webevents, and channels trying to duplicate what CNET and TechTV (remember that group of losers?) have both failed to do on the web. We don’t need more TechTV on the web. We do need forums for self expression and for developing micro audiences. Yep, a YouTube for technology companies and their stakeholders. Have you ever wondered why YouTube doesn’t hire technology “broadcasters” to host shows?

So here’s a broadcast channel I’d like to see created for technology companies and their stakeholders:

1. A technology only YouTube giving technology people and companies a place to share ideas and launch their own micro channels.

2. This self/company creation would be hosted in the same location with other like companies and people. No more Dancing Matt’s next to a tech exec.

3. It would be searchable and relatable so that content is not only easily accessible but also recommended to users based on their search and watching habits.

4. Technology companies would actively use this site creating a location just for technology leaders, the investment community, employees, customers, and media.

5. And finally, no so-called broadcasters would ever be hired to host or produce any show. Let the audience create and share period.

For almost a decade I worked with well known geek writers (all things Ziff) building audiences in traditional broadcasting. I enjoyed it for the first 3-4 years. Then these egomaniacs got to me. Because I’ve actively worked in technology with big tech giants and their leaders for almost 20 years, I know how much these so-called tech experts don’t know.

So what do you say we create a place where real technology people create, share, and learn together away from all these self appointed broadcasting tech experts?

Let me know what you think.
