SNP Announces the “Communication System”

April 15 , 2007

SAN FRANCISCO – Fueled by technology, corporate communication has turned from a one way, to a two-way, to now a too-many way system. The result is an overload of information. SNP has developed a communication system called “Portal to Profit” in which communications is viewed as a business process using a mix of rich media and traditional messaging.

According to Renn Vara, co-founder of SNP, “Today’s employees are being bombarded with countless e-mails and webcasts, spending as much as 4 hours a day just checking their email. Worst of all, management has no idea that their message isn’t getting across. In fact, they’re getting ignored.”

In response, SNP has created a communication system called, “Taking It To The Streets: Portal to Profit”. This system approaches internal communication utilizing current technology customized to the culture and specific needs of a given enterprise. This new system includes a:

  • Sales portal –the information, tools, and RSS backbone structure for communicating to the field
  • Weekly consolidated email with all departmental communications
  • Weekly audio 2 minute “headliners” from the sales leader with “news you can use”
  • Monthly talk radio interview program to tell the bigger story and expand culture
  • Quarterly webevents to engage and learn as a team
  • In class training programs to solve critical field problems / as needed
  • Ongoing online component training – usually an internal learning structure
  • Core pitch / content development and coaching for annual sales and customer meetings
  • Communicating and leveraging internal club campaigns

According to Vara, “The solution is for corporate leaders to approach communication in the same way they solve business intelligence issues; create a communication system to parallel their business system. Just like a Business Intelligence dashboard, a communication system helps the team to react faster and more in line with where the business really is.”
