Improving Corporate Video

May 25, 2007

SAN FRANCISCO –The success of YouTube not only demonstrates the power of video but a shift in its approach. SNP’s Media Service’s team is responding to this change by creating a use of video they call “context punctuation”.

According to SNP’s General Manager, Renn Vara, “It’s no secret that YouTube has become a powerful medium. The key is to adapt its style and purpose – short, simple and used as context.”

SNP Communications, an executive communication company for leaders of top Fortune 500 companies, describes “context punctuation” or CP as short 30 second to 2 minute quick-cut videos that give the audience a sense of the people, place, and attitude of the communication. Unlike the carefully produced corporate “talking head” videos, CP applies the YouTube feel of peer based and image rich visuals.

Currently, SNP’s CP videos are used for their webcasts - a live interactive video stream and “TalkRadio” – an audio program hosted by corporate executives. Headed by SNP’s new Media Service’s team, the use of CP is expected to expand into other areas of the company’s digital based communication tools as well as their own communication system.

Jordan Bailey, Media Service’s producer states that, “People don’t have time to watch TV at work and shouldn’t do it anyway. Essentially, the purpose of CP is to use video to tell a story and ultimately to engage them to listen to what their company leaders have to say.
