SNP introduces High-Level Management Training for Mid-Level Managers

SAN FRANCISCO - Based on over a decade of working with CXO-level business leaders in Fortune 500 companies, SNP Communications now offers a new approach to leadership training aimed at mid-level managers.

Management Leadership Training (MLT) incorporates the time-tested skill building used to improve the leadership of senior management, but caters that training to the unique needs of new managers and mid-level managers.

“Many companies reward great performance with promotion to managerial level,” said Maureen Taylor, President of SNP. “But excelling at a specific job doesn’t teach you how to manage people. Like any other position, managers need training to do the job right. Our course gives managers the skills they need to succeed.”

MLT teaches mid-level managers to think differently about their essential role and implement an “inspiration model” for leading and driving their team forward.

Whether the candidates are young managers, first-time managers, or experienced middle managers, SNP equips them to better handle that role. The program covers critical skills such as delegation, dialogue skills, handling meetings and time management skills required to cope with the increased workload.

The program begins with in-depth interviews of a candidate’s manager. This interview gives the trainers a good baseline by which to determine areas for improvement. The trainers then interview the candidate to determine self-perception of skills. Comparing the views of the manager and the candidates helps identify additional skill-building areas, which SNP develops during the three-day course.

This method creates a highly targeted curriculum tailored to each candidate’s growth areas. Catering to individual needs, and not pushing a “one size fits all” approach, originated from the demands of SNP’s customers.

“We created MLT based on a need expressed by our clients,” said Joe Mullen, SNP’s VP of Sales. “We regularly train CEOs, VPs and other high-level managers, and they invariably asked if we could deliver that same one-on-one training to their direct reports and new managers.”

Management Leadership Training is being rolled out this summer with a major technology company known for its innovative search, online-advertising model and database products. Classes will be taught in the United States and Europe.
