Podcast with Will Landry, Founder of The Lichen Lab

On Season 5 Episode 7 of Think Like A Founder, SNP Communication’s Co-Founder and CEO, Maureen Taylor, interviews Will Landry.

Will Landry is the Founder and CEO of The Lichen Lab. The Lichen Lab, an incubator for laboratory sustainability technologies. Their flagship product, the Shut the Sash Alarm, reminds scientists to keep laboratory fume hoods closed, which helps labs conserve energy, save money, and keep people safe from hazardous chemicals. Will founded The Lichen Lab while at UC San Diego and graduated with a B.S. in Biology.

“I would say since that burnout period, I think that I’ve actually had a difficulty recommitting to that vision, even though it’s the same vision, it’s the same mission from pre-burnout.

I’m much less willing to just drive myself to the edge than I used to be. And I think I care a lot more about my personal wellbeing than I used to. I’m not willing to compromise sleep as much as I used to. And I’m not willing to work until 10:00 PM as often as I used to.”

OH SN*P

Back in 2013, Asana was still a young company and some of their managers were experiencing leadership roles for the first time. So they needed to learn how to be, well, leaders. Like how to be more influential, directive, confident, and how to deal with conflict. Because if they could flourish then Asana could start to scale even faster (and without so many growing pains).

Enter SNP.

We started with just one 1:1 coaching relationship. But the good word spread fast. Soon enough more people from Asana’s management team were seeking our unique third party perspective, skill-based approach, and communications expertise to build their personal brand, strengthen their careers, and achieve more. (And did we mention the coaching program was a perk that attracted new talent? We didn’t? Well…) Eight years later and Asana is still scaling. And we’re still by their side helping them do it.
